Introduced Fish

New Zealand has 22 species of introduced fish compared to the 39 native species. Many of the fish introduced into New Zealand are not a problem but a small few are causing serious damage to native freshwater ecosystems and native fish. It is important that you do not release these fish into any streams or lakes.
